Of several crashes in the city over the long holiday weekend, just one involved injuries.

The crash occurred at 3:22pm Sunday west of the intersection of Fayette and Linden.

City police report a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Katherine Stephanson of Dieterich rear-ended a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Georgeanne Childers of Hamilton. Stephanson's vehicle then left the roadway, striking and damaging an IDOT speed limit sign.

Childers was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Stephanson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash. Childers was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
