The lawsuit filed by Altamont Ambulance Service against the Effingham County Board and the County's countersuit against the ambulance service was scheduled to be in court today, but a filing Tuesday has led to a delay. This, as behind-the-scenes negotiations continue in hopes of reaching a settlement.

Altamont Ambulance filed suit in 2014, saying the County breached their contract with the ambulance service by amending the ambulance ordinance to allow other ambulance companies to handle non-emergency transfers in the county.

For their part, the County Board alleges that Altamont Ambulance committed a series of violations of the contract. The County filed a counterclaim on behalf of the County Board alleging breach of contract by Altamont Ambulance.
