Holiday Lights Winners Announced

(THE ORCHARD INN ON NORTH 3RD STREET WAS THE BUSINESS WINNER IN THIS YEAR'S VOTING)

The City of Effingham and the Effingham Convention & Visitors Bureau were thrilled with the amount of participation in their third annual holiday light competition Holiday Lights & Festive Sights. They received over 600 votes in the past week for the finalists.

The winner of each category in the Holiday Lights & Festive Sights competition is as follows: Classic Christmas: Darlene Logue at 805 E Jefferson Ave, Clark Griswold: Richard and Pauline Worman at 910 N. Merchant and Reason for the Season: Cleatus and Betty Koester at 700 N Parkview. The business winner was The Orchard Inn. Their charity of choice is Catholic Charities. The Orchard Inn has offered to match the $250 donation, for a total of $500 going to the not-for-profit.

Each winner will receive $250 and a sign to be displayed in their yard through January 3, 2017 designating them as a winner of the competition. Everyone is encouraged to not only visit their homes but also all of the finalists’ homes during the Christmas season. City tourism officials are pleased with all of the homes nominated and hope everyone gets time to visit the streets of Effingham to see how beautiful it looks. The City will be drawing the two winners of the $100 gift cards today and they will be contacted and announced on the City Tourism Facebook page, Visit Effingham.
