The woman who drove her car into an Effingham motel in January has been sentenced to prison.

33-year-old Rachel Jones of Farina drove a car through the front doors of Comfort Suites on West Fayette and through the lobby into the breakfast area. She pleaded guilty Monday to a count of aggravated DUI. The charge also indicates Jones has been convicted on multiple counts of the same offense through the years.

No one was injured in the incident.

Jones was found unfit to stand trial in February, but she was later found fit and the prosecution of the case resumed.

Jones was sentenced to seven years, six months in prison. She will be placed on two years' mandatory supervised release upon her release from prison. She must also make $5,600 in restitution for the damage done to the motel and must pay other fines and costs.
