Local Independent Beachbody Coaches made a donation to Blessings in a Backpack- Effingham, IL. The donation is from the proceeds of their recent Harvest Blessings 5K, and will feed 17 local children for a full school year. The group’s original goal was to raise funds for ten children; they’re very pleased to have surpassed that number.

Cathy Hayes, a teacher and member of the Blessings in a Backpack board commented, “We are honored these coaches chose Blessings as the recipient of their 5K. As a runner myself, I was excited their passion for fitness combined with a great way to bless our program. We applaud their hard work, and the generous companies and individuals who helped sponsor the race. The money donated will be used to purchase food for children in our program.”

Blessings in a Backpack- Effingham IL provides food for 500 children from pre-k through eighth grade, over weekends during the school year. Their summer program feeds children in conjunction with the Unit 40 Mentoring lunch program at West Side School. Community support has enabled the group to grow significantly during its three years in service to Effingham area students.
