Powless Elected State's Attorney in Clay County

Joel Powless was elected Clay County State's Attorney in Tuesday's balloting.

Powless defeated Melanie Pearce, who had worked in the state's attorney's office, 3,690 to 2,561. 

In a contested Clay County Board race, Republican Barbara McGrew defeated Democrat Linda Judd in District M, 292 to 97.

Better than 66% of those registered to vote in the county turned out Tuesday, 6,401 of 9,642 registered.
