The Effingham Unit #40 Board of Education employed Mrs. Cherri Marten and Mrs. Jennifer Fox as principals for the 2013-14 school year.

Mrs. Marten will be at Edgewood School while Mrs. Fox will be at the Early Learning Center (ELC). These positions were open due to Mrs. Wanda Brooks and Mrs. Kay Halford retiring at the end of the 2012-13 school year.

Unit #40 Superintendent Mark Doan stated, "Both Mrs. Fox and Mrs. Marten have extensive knowledge of instructional strategies to help support our excellent teaching staff as we continue towards our goal of improving student achievement. In addition, both of these individuals have the skills to lead their school buildings to meet the District's goals."

Mrs. Marten and Mrs. Fox both earned their Masters in Educational Administration degrees from Eastern Illinois University. Mr. Doan added, "As both are presently teachers in Unit #40, they have familiarity with the high expectations of the community, parents and District. We are excited to have them on board for next year."
