After months of discussion and negotiations, the North Clay Board of Education Wednesday approved an intergovernmental agreement with the North Clay Park Board for development of a baseball diamond on the North Clay school grounds.

The vote to approve a 25-year agreement was 7-0. The agreement was effective immediately.

The school district has been paying annually to utilize the park district ball diamond in Louisville for games.

Anthony Dawkins of the Park District hopes to start the dirt work on the field before winter. Dawkins said the idea is that the field would be ready for next fall's baseball season.

As to other questions about the field, Dawkins said it wouldn't be necessary to install tile to drain the field, and said there are no intentions to run electricity or water to the diamond. A porta potty would be used at the field, if the school district isn't inclined to open the school building for use of the facilities.

FFA Alumni President Bryan West again stated objections to the project. The Alumni have had a farm plot on the southern end of the school district property.
