A Central Grade School third grader is in the hospital after falling ill at school Thursday afternoon.

The boy, Clayton Florida, was in PE class when he fell ill.  Central School Principal Dean Manuel said the incident occurred about 2:20pm.  Manuel said staff members "did what needed to be done until the ambulance arrived."  He said students were told about the incident at the start of the school day today since several students were outside at the time of the incident and saw the ambulances arrive.

Clayton's Grandma Followell this morning said the boy was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, but the tests didn't indicate any reason why he would've fallen ill.  Clayton was transferred to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis for additional treatment.
