A Chicago area man has been arrested in Effingham County after allegedly traveling here to meet a teenage girl.

32-year-old Abraham Mireles of Oak Lawn is charged with traveling to meet a child.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler Friday said Mireles and the 15-year-old girl had met on an online dating site. Kibler said the girl lived with her grandparents. The grandfather was awakened by an alarm system and discovered his granddaughter was attempting to leave to allegedly meet Mireles.

Authorities were notified and did a search of Mireles' vehicle. Condoms and blankets were found inside the vehicle. That led to Mireles' arrest.

Traveling to meet a minor is a Class 3 felony, punishable by up to two to five years in prison, although Kibler said Mireles has no criminal history.

Mireles has posted bond and been released. He is next due in court on December 1.
