The person who was stabbed has been indicted for his alleged role in an incident last Friday morning in Dieterich.

19-year-old Skyler L. Roley of Dieterich was indicted by an Effingham County Grand Jury on two counts of aggravated battery and one count of mob action.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office obtained information that Roley traveled to 204 W. Center Street in Dieterich with two other men, 18-year-old Brayden L. Aldredge and 34-year-old Adam Pipkins, both of Effingham.

The Sheriff's Office reports witnesses connected to the incident claim Roley produced a chain and used it as a weapon to commit a battery on Anthony Hawes of rural Dieterich. Authorities also allege Hawes stabbed Roley in self-defense during the altercation.

Roley was treated for his wounds at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana and was released. Pipkins and Aldredge have each been charged with mob action and were in custody at last report. A warrant has been issued for Roley's arrest.

The case has been referred to State's Attorney Bryan Kibler's office for prosecution.
