One Injured in Crash at 4th and Eiche; Police Also Investigating Residential Burglary

One person was injured in a crash Tuesday morning at 4th and Eiche in Effingham.

City police were notified at 9:01am of the crash. Police say a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Joseph Meister of Olney struck a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Douglas Buening of Beecher City.

Meister was injured, and was transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. 

Meister was cited for defective or no brakes, and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

City police are also investigating a residential burglary.

The break-in occurred in the 2500 block of North Raney Street on Monday between 11am and 1pm. A laptop computer valued at $1,300 was taken, along with an iPad, another laptop computer, a watch, a wedding band a wedding ring, a debit card and a checkbook. The value of the items taken totals close to $5,000.
