Texas Trucker Injured in Local Crash

A Texas trucker was injured Monday in a crash in Effingham County.

State police say the crash occurred at 12:55pm on I-57 northbound, two miles north of Edgewood.

Police report a rig driven by 54-year-old Kenneth Ray Young of Abilene, Texas suffered a blowout of the passenger side steer tire. The blowout caused the rig to run off the road to the right, enter the ditch and strike a tree.

Young was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Young was cited for driving a rig with an unsafe tire.
