One person was hospitalized after his motorcycle collided with a minivan in Heartville.

State police say the crash occurred at 8:28am Sunday on US Route 45 at the Old State Police Station Road.

The cycle, operated by 52-year-old Ronald Slifer of Watson, was passing in a no-passing zone to the left of a vehicle turning right off the highway. The minivan, driven by 49-year-old Chad Beckman of Louisville, turned left onto the highway off the blacktop and was struck by Slifer's cycle.

Slifer was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Slifer was cited for improper lane usage. State police were assisted at the scene by the Effingham County Sheriff's Department, the Watson Fire Department and the Effingham City-County Ambulance Service.
