Our Millie Lange is an adventurous soul, a traveler of some renown, a collector of many items with which she has won a number of competitions, and a female sports reporter long before it was fashionable.

Thus, when we were given the opportunity to take a ride in a Corvette Thursday morning, Millie jumped at the chance.

Dr. Sam Walton phoned the studios, offering a chance at taking his yellow Corvette convertible for a drive. Millie and Office Manager Teresa Klingler said yes to the opportunity, but balked when they found it was a stick shift vehicle.

Sam said he would drive, Teresa politely bowed out, and that allowed Millie who was obviously pumped over the idea to take a ride around the block that eventually led to a drive to Teutopolis and back. She was grinning when she arrived back at the studios several minutes later. She said it was only her second ride in a Corvette.

Dr. Walton and wife Connie were downtown Thursday evening for the Corvette Welcome Fest, Sam looking none the worse for wear after his chauffering experience.
