Two Ohio Residents Arrested in Effingham County On Drug Charges

Two Ohio residents were arrested on drug charges in Effingham County Thursday.

Assistant State's Attorney Regina Jeon said 33-year-old Tammy Risner of Greenfield, Ohio was stopped Thursday morning by Illinois State Police along I-70 due to a vehicle code violation. When the occupants of the vehicle seemed nervous, permission was sought and given to search the vehicle. As a K-9 was called to conduct a search, Risner allegedly told police she had a small amount of marijuana.

The search yielded between 2,000 and 5,000 grams of cannabis. Risner was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis. Due to the quantity, Risner was charged with a Class 2 felony, punishable by up to three to seven years in prison. Bond was set at $20,000. Risner is next due in court on September 19.

Jeon also said 26-year-old Zachary Combs of Carlisle, Ohio was arrested late Thursday night after being stopped for speeding. Officers searching Combs' vehicle found an Arizona Tea container in the trunk in which was found quantities of LSD and Ecstacy. 

Combs was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance. The charge is a Class 4 felony, punishable by up to one to three years in prison. Combs' bond was set at $10,000. He is next due in court on September 26.
