The schedule of events has been released for the 9/11 Honor Stair Climb ceremony Sunday at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Onsite registration will take place from 7:30-8:30am. The Opening Ceremony will begin at 8:30am. Following the taking of a group photo outside the hospital auditorium, the MABAS 54 Honor Guard will present the colors in the auditorium. Jerrod Estes, who is paramedic for Effingham City-County Ambulance Service and firefighter for the Shumway Fire Protection District, is again serving as coordinator for the ceremony, and will give the welcome. Effingham Fire Chief Joe Holomy will also offer a welcome, as will Hospital President and CEO Theresa Rutherford. The MABAS Honor Guard will present a Bell Service at 8:50am with Effingham Fire Department Second Assistant Chief Jim Wolters. After a prayer, a moment of silence will be observed.

At 9am, Estes and Coordinator Johnathon Paholke, Shumway Fire Protection District Battalion Chief, will review the climb details. The stair climb will follow until 1pm.

Climbers will be escorted to the main stairwell. Supporters and colleagues will line the hallway and cheer the climbers on.

The goal is to represent the 110 floors climbed by New York City firefighters, police and officers and EMS personnel at the World Trade Center the day of the attacks.
