State statute requires the Illinois Department of Corrections to inspect each county jail annually and to make the results available for public view.

Effingham County Sheriff Dave Mahon said Corrections officials inspected Effingham County Jail on August 18, and there were no deficiencies found.

Sheriff Mahon said the Department of Corrections noted they have received several letters from detainees commenting on "the cleanliness of the jail and the professionlism and respectfulness of Jail Administrator Marnie Raber and the jail staff at the Effingham County Jail."

The sheriff said a copy of the jail inspection is available for the public's review at the Sheriff's Office and in the Effingham County Clerk's Office.
