One person was injured in a crash at the construction zone on I-70 west of Effingham at 1:50pm Wednesday.

State police say an unidentified semi merged into a single lane of traffic, forcing a vehicle already in the lane driven by 27-year-old Aaron Bengston of Longmont, Colorado to avoid hitting the semi.  Bengston's quick stop, though, resulted in another unit driven by 30-year-old Michael Mallow of Berkley, Michigan, striking Bengston's vehicle.

Bengston was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.  Mallow was cited for following too closely.

A crash in Cumberland County early Thursday morning resulted in injuries to a St. Louis man.

32-year-old Iftim Ibrahim of St. Louis was a passenger in a semi driven by 35-year-old Gaarrane Maxaneo of Columbus, Ohio when the rig ran off I-70 into the median and then struck some barrels and a bridge support.

Ibrahim was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.  Maxaneo was cited for improper lane usage.

The crash was reported at 1:12am today on I-70, five miles west of Greenup.
