Cumberland school board members have approved a three-year contract with district teachers.

The contract is retroactive to August 1. It includes a 2.25% raise the first year, a 1.75% increase the second year, and a 1% raise the final year for a total of 5% over the life of the agreement.

The Board also approved a new contract with Unit Superintendent Todd Butler. The agreement will now extend until June 30, 2020, keeping all of the provisions of the existing contract except salary. Retroactive to July 1, 2016 the annual base salary will be $108,150 for the period from that date until June 30, 2020.

Cumberland board members also approved a letter of retirement from Gerald Stewart effective September 1, and agreed to post the position of custodian. The Board also adopted a district concussion policy.

Information was also shared that students in the Middle School Quest group will be partnering with Evapco in Greenup to build two independent businesses that will culminate in a final project to produce a Cumberland Unit 77 Christmas ornament. The ornament will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Cumberland school district.
