Family Loses Almost Everything in a Rural St. Elmo House Fire

St. Elmo Fire Department responded to a house fire at the Gates residence seven and a half miles north of St. Elmo at 1914 E 2510 Lane.
 
At approximately 3:30pm Friday afternoon the Homeowners returned from work to find their six year old house fully engulfed.
 
St. Elmo Fire Department called a full still which brought firefighters to the scene from Altamont, Brownstown, and Tri-County. St. Peter and Watson fire departments covered the St. Elmo fire station and while they where there responded to a medical call in the St. Elmo district.
 
The Red Cross responded to the scene to offer aid to the gates family as the house was a total loss. 
 
No injuries occured and no amimals were lost in the blaze. Just a couple of family heirlooms were able to be recovered.
 
Firefighters were on scene for 5 hours.
