July Jobless Rates Down from Year Ago

Unemployment rates for July were down in all area counties, compared to one year earlier.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports July joblessness in Effingham County was reported at 4.5%, down from 4.8% in July 2015.

As far as area counties, here are the numbers:

Clark County--5.7%, down from 6.3%

Coles County--6.4%, down from 6.8%

Cumberland County--4.9%, down from 5.3%

Shelby County--5.5%, down from 6.3%

Clay County--6.3%, down from 7.0%

Fayette County--5.9%, down from 6.2%

Jasper County--5.9%, down from 6.3%
