The Tri-County Fire Protection District is making plans for a commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

The event will begin at 3pm on Sunday, the 11th at Beecher City High School.

Guest speakers will include 15th District US Congressman John Shimkus, noted author and photographer Dr. Nash Naam on the topic "Lest We Forget", and Effingham Fire Chief and Illinois Fire Advisory Commission Chairman Joe Holomy. A piece of I-beam steel from one of the Twin Towers in New York City will be on display courtesy of the Pana Fire Department.

Other highlights will include music from the FACE Orchestra, a firefighter bell service, and an appearance by the MABAS 54 Honor Guard.

Area fire departments are welcome to take a piece of fire apparatus for the event.
