Today, The Equity announced the awarding of a contract to ASI Industrial for construction of a new, fully automated, state of the art feed mill at their newly acquired location in Horace, Illinois.

Construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks with a commissioning of the new facility before the end of 2017. This new feed mill will have the capacity to produce over 400,000 tons of complete swine feed annually.

Darwin Wohltman, Vice President of Feed & Livestock at The Equity stated, "The addition of this new feed mill in Horace will facilitate our capacity to service a growing segment of swine producers necessary to meet the new dynamics of the packing industry". Wohltman added that he is also excited how this new mill compliments the current mill in Effingham, "The Effingham mill, which has an annual capacity of 240,000 tons will be able to focus on the needs of the local livestock industry and expand the company’s product lines across all species".

Bruce Vernon, CEO of The Equity added "The new location in Horace dovetails nicely into our strategy to continue the diversity of the organization. Over the next couple of years, we see opportunities to vastly enhance our offerings in market access for grain, build upon our customer focus in agronomy and energy while growing our feed business. Equally, we are enthusiastic about the mill here in Effingham and how we can repurpose it to meet the local needs going forward".

ASI Industrial from Billings Montana has been selected to construct this new mill after a process that included members from The Equity making site visits to various mills in the surrounding states.

Matthew Hamlin of ASI commented, "ASI Industries eagerly anticipates the project with The Equity. Innovative projects like this one fuel our client’s success through efficient and economical production of feed".
