The Effingham Regional Growth Alliance has hired Craig A. Nielson as its CEO and President.

(CRAIG NIELSON)

Nielson, who has almost 30 years of education and experience in economic and community development, is tasked with enhancing economic growth opportunities in Effingham County. His prospective start date is September 8.

In announcing the appointment to the Alliance Board of Directors, Chairman Chuck Deters said, "I appreciate everyone who was a part of this search. It was an extensive process and many people and organizations were involved to make sure we found the right person. We are fortunate to find someone of Craig's caliber. He will be an excellent compliment to the skills and expertise already in place."

"Craig Nielson understands the needs of businesses looking to grow and expand, and most importantly, how to help them do that," said Dan Woods, who has led the Alliance since its inception. "He'll be an exceptional leader to coordinate and support economic and community development efforts across the county."

Alliance officials say Nielson has strong expertise in client relationship management, corporate marketing and sales, negotiations, contract management, site selection, international business, investment strategy and business development.

Nielson began his professional career in 1987 with Hart Corporation, an international industrial real estate company specializing in site selection and the marketing of large industrial properties in small- to mid-sized communities throughout the United States. In mid 2013, Hart Corporation was acquired by Newmark Grubb Knight Frank NGKF, one of the world's leading commercial real estate advisory firms. Nielson has been responsible for managing corporate accounts, marketing, site selection and managing client/economic development relationships throughout the Midwest.

Nielson said in regards to his hiring, "I am excited to have been chosen for this position. Effingham County is poised for growth and development. I look forward to working with community and business leaders to make this happen." Nielson and his wife, Tina, will be coming to Effingham County from Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

The Effingham Regional Growth Alliance is a private/public partnership that leads, assists and collaborates with business, government, educators and the Chamber of Commerce across Effingham County to market the Effingham region to attract business and industry, and skilled workers, while expanding the market of products and services produced in the county.
