Altamont school board members addressed a number of personnel matters for the new school year at this week's meeting.

The Board approved the employment of Monica Harshman as a teacher's aide and Tether Campbell as high school Spanish teacher. Resignations were accepted from high school Spanish teacher Cosette Groisiller, high school and junior high volleyball coach Amber Mayhaus, cook Charlene Calhoun as of July 31, and longtime high school secretary Deb Winter as of October 28.

High School Principal Jerry Tkachuk told the Board they have several good applicants for the secretary's position. Winter is retiring after 22 years' service at the high school.

The Board hired DeeAdria Robson as cook to replace Calhoun and hired Scott Klingler as high school volleyball coach to replace Mayhaus. Also approved was a group of volunteers, including Mike Ziegler for high school baseball, Charlie Miller for high school baseball, and Courtnie Mullen for high school soccer. The Board also authorized the administration to employ teacher's aides as needed.

In other business, the Altamont board reviewed a tentative budget for the new fiscal year and set a budget hearing for September 12; heard that about $150,000 in urgent and required work was found in the District as part of the 10-year health/life safety work done by architect Bill Utz; and heard that the first day for Altamont students will be Thursday, August 18.
