State Police report that Jeffrey R. Esker, Age 24, of Teutopolis, was operating an ATV on 1000th Avenue in Jasper County. At approximately 3:12am Sunday morning, while traveling eastbound, Esker's vehicle approached the intersection with 300th Street and failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway. The ATV skidded off the south shoulder, struck a stop sign and a ditch, and then flipped at least once, throwing Esker from the vehicle before it came to rest on its top. He was transported by helicopter to Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, IL.

Esker was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while his license is suspended, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, disobeying a stop sign, illegal transportation of alcohol, and reckless operation of an ATV.
