51st Annual CEFS Board Meeting Held

CEFS Economic Opportunity Corporation's Board of Directors held its 51st annual meeting Thursday with more than 200 people present.

Board Chair Jean Finley said the agency recognized board members for volunteering their time to guide and direct the agency. Finley also announced that Tammy Merrell of Louisville was recognized as 2016 Family of Distinction for efforts utilizing CEFS programs to achieve personal growth and economic security.

23 individuals and families were recognized for overcoming personal obstacles to achieve self-sufficiency.

CEFS awarded $8,000 in educational scholarships to nine individuals pursuing post-secondary education degrees.

CEFS CEO Paul White reported that 15,991 people in 7,244 unduplicated families received agency services, with the assistance of 326 local community partners and with the help of 3,094 volunteers providing 140,192 volunteer hours of assistance.

The agency is designed to provide direct services, referrals and linkages to address issues facing limited-income residents and providing local community solutions to meet those needs.
