Both camps remain firm in their desires regarding Evergreen Mini-Golf; one side wants a long-term lease, the other side is looking for something more short-term.

Mark and Julie Pike are desirous of a 10-year lease as part of a sale of the assets of the miniature golf course at Evergreen Hollow Park to Charla and Scott Lake. The Effingham Park Board wants something more short-term, perhaps a five-year agreement. The two sides discussed the matter at Wednesday night's Park Board meeting.

The Park District receives 7% of the revenue earned by the golf course. Park District Director Jeff Althoff said that averages out to about $150/month.

At the same time, Althoff said all options are on the table other than a long-term agreement. He said the Park District doesn't have something else in mind for the area now designated for the course, but doesn't want to limit themselves should something come along.

The Park Board also heard from Jake Junghanel, the general manager of the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex. Junghanel said, year-to-date, the Complex is $718 in the black, even when including start-up costs. The amount does not include lease fees paid by HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for space in the Complex, as those funds are targeted to pay off the indebtedness on the facility.

Junghanel reported membership is over 1600, which translates to more than 4200 members.
