Two people were injured in a crash along US Route 45 in the southern part of Effingham County.

The crash happened at 11:05pm Thursday a short distance north of 1st Avenue in Union Township. Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Megan Pagel of Effingham was northbound when Pagel lost control of the vehicle. The car rolled over several times before coming to rest in a ditch. Another vehicle, driven by 59-year-old Robert Criss of Bolingbrook struck items of debris off the Pagel vehicle.

Pagel was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. A passenger in the Pagel vehicle, 27-year-old Jonathan Serafini of Effingham, was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Pagel was cited for operating an uninsured vehicle, improper lane usage, and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
