Jones Named U of I Chancellor

Dr. Robert Jones has been named University of Illinois chancellor.

Jones currently serves as president of the State University of New York at Albany.

His tenure at State University follows a 34-year career at the University of Minnesota where he began as a faculty agronomist and later served as senior vice president for academic administration.

The Georgia native earned a bachelor's degree in Agronomy from Fort Valley State College and a master's degree in Crop Physiology from the University of Georgia. He received a doctorate in Crop Physiology from the University of Missouri. He is a fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of America.
