The Missouri Public Service Commission has rejected on a technicality a request for a multi-state power line project to cross Missouri.

Clean Line Energy Partners is trying to run the Grain Belt Express power line network from Kansas to Indiana, including parts of Shelby and Cumberland counties in Illinois.

The Commission rejected the petition since Clean Line Energy Partners didn't file it at least 60 days prior to it being considered.

Clean Line Energy Partners immediately announced plans to re-file the petition. Commission Chairman Daniel Hall said the rejection was a "merely procedural formality".

About 200 miles of the proposed 780-mile project would cross Missouri.
