Passenger on Motorcycle Injured; Police Investigate Burglaries

A passenger on a motorcycle was injured during a crash in Effingham on Monday afternoon.

City police say a motorcycle operated by 29-year-old Justin Akers of Flora was attempting to negotiate a curve at 804 South Henrietta just before 3 p.m. Police say Akers lost control of the cycle and laid the cycle over on its side.

A passenger on the motorcycle, 25-year-old  Jackquelyn Akers of Flora, was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued.

City police are also investigating a burglary from a motor vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of East Hawthorne between Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon; theft of a wallet and contents from a shopping cart at 1204 Avenue of Mid America on Friday evening; and theft of a starter from outside TB Electric at 813 North 3rd on Saturday morning.
