Two arrests were made in Edgewood Thursday, one on drug charges, by the Effingham County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies stopped a truck in Edgewood about 4:45pm on a traffic violation. The driver of the truck, 32-year-old Derek A. Britz of Edgewood, was stopped for failure to use a turn signal and was found to be driving while his license is suspended. During the traffic stop, drug paraphernalia, controlled substances and methamphetamine were discovered.

Britz was cited for possession of 5 to 15 grams of methamphetamine, meth delivery and driving while his license is suspended.

A passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Robert L.N. Adams of McDonald, Kansas, was arrested on a count of obstructing justice.

Both suspects were being held in Effingham County Jail as of Friday morning.

Effingham County Sheriff Dave Mahon said, "Sheriff's deputies will continue to work in the communities of Effingham County to combat methamphetamine and other dangerous drugs that affect everyone."
