The Sacred Heart Parish Picnic got underway Saturday morning. Activities will continue through late Sunday night.

The Shamrock Race for the Cross was held this morning, featuring 5K, 10K, and one-mile fun run races.

The picnic grounds, though, will be open from 5pm to midnight today and from noon to 11pm Sunday.

Picnic features include live entertainment throughout the weekend, chicken and ham dinners served from 11am to 7pm on Sunday in the air-conditioned Sacred Heart Parish Center, a live auction at 1pm Sunday featuring new items donated by local businesses, parishioners, and school families, including sports and entertainment tickets and packages, new furniture, full orthodontics treatment, hotel pool party, patio set, handcrafted fire pit, and more than 60 additional items.

The picnic will be filled with an array of games and activities for the whole family, and carnival rides will be available. There will be specialty stands, a wine tasting event from 5 to 7pm Saturday including a meet and greet with Heather and Marty, and a variety of live music performances.

There will also be a big raffle and a junior raffle. Drawings will be held on Sunday night at approximately 10pm. The big raffle grand prize is the winner's choice of a new car, a new motorcycle or $15,000 cash.
