Local Resident Injured in Crash

A local woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Effingham.

The crash occurred at 4:18pm and involved units driven by 39-year-old Joann Presnell of Effingham and 58-year-old David Watkins of St. Elmo.  City police say Presnell pulled into the roadway and her vehicle was struck by the Watkins vehicle.

Watkins was injured and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  No tickets were issued.


City police are investigating a burglary that occurred in the 100 block of Cedar.  The incident occurred sometime between 10pm Wednesday and 2am today.  A motor vehicle was stolen as was a purse and its contents.
