A man with area ties has been named Acting Director of the Illinois State Lottery.

Tim McDevitt is from Charleston, but has a number of relatives in the Effingham area.

McDevitt currently serves as Deputy Director of Transformation in the Governor's Office. He has a law degree from the University of Chicago, a master's degree from the University of Texas-Austin, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Prior to working for the State, McDevitt was a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.

B.R. Lane has resigned as Acting Lottery Director due to what was termed "a significant medical issue".
