Accident Reported in Moccasin Township

The Effingham County Sheriff's office has reported an accident in Moccasin Township.

Hunter J.M. Barns, 17, of Altamont lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway on the north side and struck a tree in the yard at 5376 East 1500th Avenue. The vehicle rolled over landing on its top. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Barns was airlifted to Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. He was cited for failure to reduce speed, illegal possession of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
