A rural Montrose man was injured in a fall off a building at his farm Monday night.

Jasper County Sheriff Rick Britton said Keith Key was the man injured. The incident happened just after 6pm.

Montrose Fire Protection District Chief Chris Overbeck said Key was working on attaching a lean-to on a pole barn when he fell. The roof is not yet on the lean-to so Key fell between 10 and 15 feet to the ground below.

Key was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Overbeck said Key was alert at the scene and talking with those attending him.

The Key residence is on the Jasper-Cumberland County line, east of Montrose and north of Gila.
