Semi Crash on I-70 in Fayette County Early Thursday

A semi overturned on I-70 westbound in Fayette County early Thursday morning.

State police report a rig driven by 22-year-old Michael Booker of Indianapolis, Indiana ran off onto the shoulder of the roadway and Booker then corrected back onto the driving lane. The semi, though, overturned onto the shoulder and the driving lane.

Booker and his passenger, 24-year-old Isaiah Booker of Indianapolis, were both injured and were taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia. Isaiah Booker was later airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

The crash happened five miles west of St. Elmo just before 3am.
