Two Crashes w/Injuries in City

Effingham city police handled two crashes with injuries over the weekend.

One crash occurred at 3:10pm Friday north of the intersection of 3rd and Rickelman. 

Police report a motorcycle operated by 53-year-old Steven Phillips of Fox River Grove skidded on wet pavement and fell over.

Phillips and a passenger, 52-year-old Cheryl Phillips of Fox River Grove, were both injured. Both were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued.

The other incident occurred at 5:20pm Friday north of the intersection of Keller Drive and Avenue of Mid America. 

Police report a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Katheryn Schmidt of Effingham rear-ended a vehicle driven by 67-year-old Kay Allen of Mattoon.

Allen was injured, but refused treatment.

No citations were issued.
