The City Team recently visited HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, part of an effort by the City of Effingham to recognize local institutions for their role in the life of the city.

Said Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker, “We are incredibly lucky to have a healthcare organization such as HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham. They are our largest employer and they offer staff privileges to over 150 doctors in the area. The community services they provide at no cost have far reaching effects on the well-being of our community. On the personal side, I’m fully vested in St. Anthony’s Hospital as my mother was born there, I was born there, my wife was born there, and all three of my kids were born there. It is a sacred place to me. We are proud of HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospital and we brag about them all the time. We are glad they continue to invest in Effingham!”

“We are so proud to be a part of the Effingham community. We are grateful for the support. The Hospital has a strong operations component in the budget that allows us to fulfill its community benefit obligations. Philanthropy allows us to elevate the organization to the next level. Philanthropy is very important to us," stated Theresa Rutherford, President and CEO.
