One of two men charged in Jasper County with attempting a theft of soybeans from Total Grain Management in Willow Hill has pleaded guilty.

53-year-old John York of Sumner pleaded guilty to possession of burglary tools. He was accused of possessing tools designed for cutting. The items were found inside his pickup truck.

York has been sentenced to 90 days in Jasper County Jail, along with 30 months' probation. He could have been sentenced to one to three years in prison. York was also fined $1,000 plus court costs, and must forfeit the tools and his vehicle in which the tools were found.

York and co-defendant Dennis Thacker, Jr. of Sumner were arrested for an attempted theft in March, and Thacker has been charged with theft from the same elevator in December.
