A semi and pickup truck collided in the eastern part of Effingham County at midnight Friday night, resulting in two injuries.

The crash happened on Illinois Route 33 at 2100th Avenue.

Illinois State Police report a pickup truck driven by Kory Willenborg of Dieterich was traveling north on 2100th Avenue at the intersection with the highway. A semi driven by David Ashby of Taylorville was traveling on the highway. Ashby told police that the pickup truck coasted through the stop sign at the intersection. After traveling onto the highway, the pickup truck struck the tandem axle on the semi.

Willenborg was injured, as was his passenger, a 15-year-old from Montrose. Willenborg was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana, as was the 15-year-old passenger, whose name was not released.

State police have issued citations to Willenborg charging illegal consumption of alcohol, not wearing a seatbelt, disobeying a stop sign, and no valid insurance.
