Teutopolis school board members discussed the upcoming vacancy in their athletic director's position and how it might best be filled.

Andy Johnson is leaving the district to become Superintendent of the Jasper Unit 1 School District on July 1. Johnson has been serving not only as AD but also as assistant principal.

Teutopolis Board President Jim Buhnerkempe said Thursday's discussion focused on ways to fill the position, and said a part-time option is being considered. Buhnerkempe said they hope to make a decision on the AD's job at their regular monthly meeting later in May.

The Board Thursday also approved the resignation of a junior high cook, but hired a Title I teacher and a 3/7ths time Ag teacher to replace the retiring Daryl Miller.

Board members approved a 2016-17 contract for Superintendent Bill Fritcher including a $1,000 raise, and also discussed health insurance premiums for the coming year, and Buhnerkempe said they hope to make decision on coverage at the meeting later this month.
