One person was injured when two semi trailer trucks collided west of Effingham on I-70 Monday morning.

The crash happened at 2:15am in the eastbound lanes about seven miles west of Effingham. State police report a rig driven by 39-year-old Benjamin Muncy of Newark, Ohio came upon a slower-moving semi driven by 39-year-old Muhammad Irshad of Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Muncy's rig rear-ended the Irshad semi from behind.

Muncy was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash and for driving beyond the 14-hour duty period for drivers.

Irshad was injured and was taken for treatment to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
