The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that weather permitting road construction work
will begin on Willow Street in Effingham on Wednesday May 2nd. The work will take place between the
CSX Railroad and Big Salt Creek.
Work on the project will consist of pavement patching, pavement grinding and asphalt resurfacing.
Willow Street will remain open but will be reduced to one lane using flaggers. Also, depending on how
the work progresses, a portion of the work may be completed at night. Motorists are asked to be patient
and to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.
Howell Paving, Inc. of Mattoon is the prime contractor and Rod Pearson is the Resident Engineer for the
Department of Transportation. Questions concerning the project should be directed to Mr. Pearson at
(217) 342-4530 or Charlie Slavens at the Effingham office at (217) 342-3951.
