EHS Students Fare Well at Welding Competition

Effingham High School teacher Ty Totten took three of his students to compete in the Midwest Technology Institute's welding competition.

On the written portion of the competition, Brady Scott earned the second highest score, 41, while Tyler Cain and Joe Phillips also scored higher than the average with scores of 31 and 33 respectively; the average was 30 out of 50).

Scott also finished the competition in fifth place out of 91 contestants. He was the highest placing public school student competing against other trade, vocational, and high schools.

Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan offered the participants and Totten congratulations on behalf of the students, staff, Board members and administrators of the district.
