The Stewardson-Strasburg Board of Education was briefed this week on implementation of Chromebooks in classrooms and technology updates.

Superintendent Michele Lindenmeyer said 210 units were purchased. They will be moved between classrooms on carts, and teachers will each take home a Chromebook this summer to get versed in how to use one. Lindenmeyer said they will begin using them in grade school classrooms this fall.

The Board approved rehiring the boys and girls high school basketball coaches for next season; Cody McCollum and Quinn Bennett for the boys and Mariah Bolin for the girls. The Board also accepted the resignation of Morgan Jones as an elementary teacher and will seek a replacement, hired Sheila Crist as a cook, and hired Tiffany Durban as part-time kitchen assistant.

Also approved was $48,000 in tuckpointing work on one side and the Ag area of the high school facility; student handbook changes reflecting the change from a 5.0 to a 4.0 grading system; renewing a contract for professional services for the sewer plant; and dismissing classes at 2pm for the first two weeks of the coming school year since there is no air conditioning in the grade school facility.
