A car was involved in a crash outside Effingham over the weekend.

The crash occurred at 2pm Sunday on I-57/70, a mile south of the Fayette Avenue interchange. Illinois State Police report a car driven by 38-year-old Tadget Carlyle of Anna was traveling 75 MPH in a 70 MPH zone on the wet pavement. Police say the car hydroplaned, causing Carlyle to lose control of the vehicle. The car swerved off the roadway to the left, struck a light pole, and came to a stop in the median.

Carlyle was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Police cited Carlyle for driving too fast for conditions.
